Tucked between Smoky Hills State Forest and Tamarac Wildlife Refuge in Northern Minnesota, The Wilds Resort and Campground is a four-season vacation destination for those seeking adventure, relaxation or something in between. A family resort on the edge of 3,146 acre Shell Lake near Osage, our comfortable cabins are surrounded by 50 acres of tall pines and white birch where a variety of birds and wildlife reside. Here you can expect to see owls, chickadees, hummingbirds, warblers, finches, and even an occasional eagle; the lake is home to ducks, cormorants, herons and loons. Squirrels and chipmunks--always the clowns--will entertain you, and you may be lucky enough to have a whitetail deer standing near your cabin when daylight breaks. Perhaps you'll sit at the end of your dock, dangle your feet in the water, cast a line, and catch some fish.
We've got the fish, too, including walleye, northern, large mouth bass, perch, sunnies and crappies. But fishing isn't the only thing to do at The Wilds Resort. We offer a variety of activites and features including boat launch, volleyball, basketball, playground, fun bug, kayak, canoe, swimming raft, paddle boats, horsehoes, tether ball and bocci ball. You will always find something fun to do here.

Our resort cabins are furnished for light housekeeping, each with a full kitchen that includes microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and full complement of dishes and cookware. Bed linens are furnished. You will need to bring your own soap and towels. A boat is included with your cabin. Recently remodeled and decorated with attention to detail, our resort cabins are clean and comfortable.
We are right next door to Tamarac Wildlife Refuge and only 45 minutes from Itasca State Park where you can walk across the Mississippi River at its start. Our central location between Detroit Lakes and Park Rapids means easy access to a wide variety of shops, golf courses, amusement parks, horseback riding, local festivities, churches, and eating establishments. And did we mention the spectacular sunsets right here on the lake?
