The Goldenrod Historical Society was officially incorporated on October 17, 1984. It is a non-profit and tax-deductible organization, the goals of which are to collect and preserve the history and memorabilia of both Seminole and Orange County sections of the unincorporated community of Goldenrod.
Ten years of hard work and dreaming on the part of many Goldenrod citizens came to fruition on Friday, August 11, 2000. On that day, the Goldenrod Historical Society accepted the keys to the Goldenrod Fire Station from Orange County as the first step in developing a new Community Center to be called the Goldenrod Station and Museum. Celebration of the Grand Opening of the Museum was held on October 6, 2001. As a community center the renovated Fire Station is also available to the community for business meetings, club meetings and social events. The rentals from these events help defray the cost of maintaining the Station.
The Goldenrod Station houses both the Goldenrod Historical Museum and the Goldenrod Chamber of Commerce. Each year Goldenrod celebrates “Tastefully Goldenrod, Food Tasting and Silent Auction” in the spring and the “Goldenrod Festival and Parade” in the fall.
Admission: Free, but donations are appreciated.
Hours: The Museum is open Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:00am to 1:00pm or by appointment. Call for group tours.

The Goldsboro Westside Community Museum is located in Sanford Florida. Historical Goldsboro was founded in 1891 as the second all Negro Town in the State of Florida, Historic Eatonville being the first. Nevertheless; the City of Goldsboro, with its own US Post Office, City Government, Tax collector, Jail, and Business District had a very short existence.
In 1911 the City of Sanford led by then Mayor Forest Lake decided that Goldsboro was standing in the way of Sanford expanding to the west. Plans to revoke the charter of Goldsboro was taken to Tallahassee where the State of Florida dismantled the town of Goldsboro. The year 2011 was the 100th anniversary of the demise of our former city. The descendants’ of Goldsboro opened the museum in August of 2011. The Goldsboro Museum is located in the heart of the black community which is a depressed area of Sanford Florida. The Goldsboro Museum Board and the Goldsboro Historical Association is in the process of changing the image of 13th street, which was renamed Historic Goldsboro Boulevard on May 31, 2012 .

One of Altamonte's former landmarks that now highlight Longwood's historic district. Charter members of the Central Florida Society for Historical Preservation invested their own money and rallied community support to move the Bradlee-McIntyre House and the Inside-Outside House from Altamonte Springs to Longwood in 1973 to prevent it from being demolished. This helped establish the historic district. The Inside-Outside House dates to the Gilded Age, when investors from Boston bought 1,200 acres along the railroad at what then was Snow Station. They formed the Altamonte Land, Hotel and Navigation Co. and built the Altamonte Hotel between lakes Adelaide and Orienta and laid out a village of winter houses for wealthy Northerners.

The Lake Mary Historical Museum exists to preserve and promote the history of the city of Lake Mary and the surrounding area. Efforts to maintain and enhance the museum are accomplished by members of the Lake Mary Historical Society and other volunteers.
The museum building houses a collection of artifacts, photographs, documents and other materials relating to Lake Mary's History. A number of special events and exhibits are offered during the year.
The museum building was constructed in 1926 by Frank Evans to serve as a community center and to provide offices for the Lake Mary of Chamber of Commerce. The building was used over the years as a senior center, a retail store and as Lake Mary's City Hall.
The museum itself began in 1994 in a small room at the back of the building. The rest of the building was used as a gathering place for the city's seniors. The first librarian for the museum was volunteer Margaret Wesley. The museum now occupies the entire building, which has been added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Longwood Historic District Longwood, Florida Website
The Longwood Historic District is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on October 5, 1990) located in Longwood, Florida. The district is bounded by West Pine Avenue, South Milwee Street, Palmetto Avenue and CR 427. It contains 37 historic buildings, including the Bradlee-McIntyre House and the Longwood Hotel.
The Museum of Geneva History tells the wonderful history of the rural Geneva area. The large rooms are divided into various interest areas. There is a kitchen, bedroom, mercantile, handmade arts area, and hundreds of interesting items from Geneva, ranging from prehistoric mound findings to Musical instruments and Geneva citizen's military uniforms. Virtually all of the items in the museum were donated or loaned by past residents of the area and demonstrate early life in the Village of Geneva. There are turpentine and orange grove tools; a cattle ranching display; a square grand piano; a Magic Lantern (preceded the slide projector); items from the early Russian, French, and English settlers; and prehistoric and Native American artifacts found in Geneva mounds/middens. Come see a very educational museum that is "much larger than it looks". On loan is a beautiful violano - a player-piano, player-violin.
The Museum was constructed in 1965 and was dedicated in 1966, with Leo Rehbinder, son of an early Russian immigrant family, cutting the ribbon. Judge Don Cheney of Orlando, a noted historian, preservationist, and head of the Orange County Historical Commission was the speaker. Mr. and Mrs. Kilbee, donors of the land also took part in the ceremony. In 1977 a second large room was add, completing the Museum. Come visit!
The Museum also has the Village Store with Geneva history books, T-shirts, caps, prints, old-fashioned wooden toys, etc.

The Museum of Seminole County History has 22 rooms of exhibits depicting the history of Seminole County, including Native American Indian artifacts, early forts and settlements, the history of the development of railroads and steamship transportation, agriculture and regional industries, decorative arts from the 19th and 20th centuries and life in the county in the 1800s and 1900s. A photo tour of early towns in the county is also on display. Special exhibits on historical subjects are featured several times during the year and programs, special events and activities for both children and adults occur monthly.
Admission: $3.00 + tax for adults, $1.00 + tax for children over 4 years of age and students. Children under 4 are free.

The Oviedo Historical Society was organized in 1973 by a group of citizens dedicated to the vision of an Oviedo Historical Museum and a desire to promote the preservation of the history of the Oviedo community. Its purpose is to help preserve the community identity of Oviedo; collect and disseminate knowledge about local history; serve as a repository for documents and artifacts relating to Oviedo history; promote the preservation and marking of historic sites and buildings in the Oviedo area and foster interest in local, state, national and world history. The Oviedo Historical Society meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the American Legion Hall near Oviedo High School.

"Engaging Neighbors in History to Build a Stronger Community". The Oviedo Preservation Project (TOPP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which is dedicated to preserving Oviedo's distinctive character. We seek to learn more about the history and culture that surrounds us here in Oviedo and to integrate that history into our community fabric as our town grows.
TOPP is run entirely by unpaid volunteers. Founded in 2005, the group has mobilized over $150,000 to help preserve history in and around Oviedo. We engage the community several times a year to highlight the progress we are making on our projects, and to enlist the assistance of members of the community in helping us make Oviedo's history come alive through its traditions. The Geneva School House is ushering in the “Rural Renaissance” for Central Florida. It is now the home of the Rural Heritage Center celebrating the rural traditions of the past, present and future of Seminole County and Central Florida. We serve the communities of Black Hammock, Chuluota, the Island and Village of Geneva, and Snow Hill. Join our new adventure by taking or teaching a heritage class, giving some “sweat equity” by helping restore our historic Geneva School house, or by becoming a member or purchasing a brick for our Founder's Square.
The historic Geneva School House was built in 1924 and first served twelve grades of Geneva students. It became an elementary school in the 1940's. In 1988, the new Geneva Elementary School was built and the little brick school house became a Family Resource Center.
In 2007, the Island & Village of Geneva Rural Heritage Center was formed as a 501(c)(3) corporation to help celebrate the rural heritage of eastern Seminole County. Then in 2009, the Seminole County School Board generously offered to donate the School House to be the home of the Rural Heritage Center. The Center partnered with neighboring rural communities of Black Hammock and Chuluota to create a community learning center to provide hands-on learning to the Central Florida Community.

The Sanford Historical Society's purpose is to foster interest in the preservation of information and artifacts related to the history of Sanford and the surrounding area. The Society provides volunteers for the Sanford Museum and raises funds for the museum's projects. The Society meets six times a year on the fourth Thursday of alternating months beginning in January, usually at the Sanford Museum. The Society publishes books of local interest and a newsletter. The Society is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization.
The Sanford Historic Trust is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, protection and improvement of the Historic Community of Sanford, placed on the National Register of Historic Places in December 1989. Life in Sanford is surrounded by the heritage of the people who settled this area, a diverse group from many ethnic backgrounds who wove their lives together to create a city that is steeped in history. The architectural, historical and cultural heritage of the homes, buildings and sites here in Sanford brings a commitment from the Trust members to preserve and educate, so generations to come can enjoy these elements of Sanford’s history.

The Sanford Residential Historic District is a U.S. Historic District (designated as such on December 15, 1989) located in Sanford, Florida. The Student Museum offers Seminole County students a unique learning opportunity at the oldest school in continuous use in Seminole County and the second oldest school in continuous use in the State of Florida. The Museum offers a hands-on learning environment. The museum features a classroom as it existed in 1902, a pioneer room containing a ¾ size log cabin, a Timucuan Indian village, a geography lab, teaching gardens, artifacts, photographs displays, and history of the local surrounding neighborhoods. In “Grandma’s Attic” students learn how to churn butter, grind wheat. Dip wax candles and wash clothes on a washboard, all part of a lesson on becoming self-sufficient. The museum provides a unique and memorable experience for students and visitors and is a cherished community asset. The museum is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Hours: The Student Museum is normally open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from September through June. The museum is open to the public from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. (school field trips are scheduled mornings). Please note that the museum follows the public school calendar. When there is a student holiday on one of our open days we occasionally open on a Monday to accommodate the school’s field trip.
